Amy and James grew up 20 miles apart on farms in eastern NC.  After college each ventured out on their own to make money in the modern world, thinking as children often do, that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence.  

But each felt a longing to put their hands back in the dirt and experience it's rich musty smell, to feel it's dampened texture crumble in their fingers. They missed the dirt under their fingernails and callused hands from a good day's work. Both wanted to reconnect with the animals, the four seasons and longed to grow their own food.  From this deep desire they decided to form a partnership and support each other in this quest. From this partnership Matthews Creek Farm came to be.

Are they there yet? Nope. Have they been humbled? Yep. 

They are generous in spirit and want to share with you what they have learned. They feel they are pointed in the right direction and invite you to come and reconnect with nature and animals as they learn and grow.

Great place to get out in nature, we enjoyed meeting all of the animals, seeing the garden, and the stars at night are beautiful! Cute place to stay and we had excellent meals in the area and hiking. James is an excellent host!

Where to start? Everything was well thought out. Nothing was missing and if we needed anything James did not hesitate to get it for us. James and Amy were such kind-hearted people. The animals and garden were such a treat. Hoping to come back in the near future!

What a wonderful place to stay! A beautiful property, awesome hosts and a great tiny house. Loved meeting and feeding the cows and goats, and hanging out with the sweetest dog ever, Cooper. Was truly such a great experience, will definitely come back!
